Crece la conexión a Internet en Argentina
Gracias al apoyo de los dispositivos móviles, el acceso a Internet en Argentina creció un 17.1% en 2010, sumando 4,609,434 conexiones, reveló un estudio global de avance de Internet del Barómetro Cisco de Banda Ancha 2005-2010.
Con estos datos, Argentina quedó en el segundo lugar de los países con mayor penetración de la red, justo después de Uruguay, el cual pasó del tercer al primer lugar en este ranking.
En el 2010, se tuvieron 674,000 conexiones más y de las cuales, una buena parte fueron vía teléfono celular mediante conexiones 3G con los smartphones. Las suscripciones a un conexión de banda ancha móvil crecieron 161.7%, al pasar de 653,245 a 1,709,242.
Sin embargo, aun cuando ha crecido la cifra de conexiones la penetración de banda ancha es muy baja. De acuerdo con cifras del Indec, existen en Argentina 12.5 millones de casas; si se considera la cantidad de conexiones tecnológicas de banda ancha que existen en el segmento de los hogares, que son 4.16 millones, se concluye que solamente alrededor del 34.5% de las casas tienen conexión a Internet.
Por otra parte, también se informó que la velocidad de 1 megabits por segundo (mbps) ya representan un 55.6% del total de las conexiones; 33.7% está entre 512 kbps y 1 mega. Y prácticamente no existen conexiones con una velocidad menor a 256 kbps.
Por último también se informó que 11.7 habitantes de cada 100 están conectados a Internet.
